Was very happy with Rhino Kyoto. Good location (near nishioji shijo station - a major bus station) and also well located near a subway (though subway in kyoto is nowhere near as good as the bus network - in my opinion). Yes, it's a fair old walk downtown, but the buses are easy and you're also spitting distance from the subway which runs late. ACCOMMODATION: The hotel is old but some parts were newly renovated (i.e. carpet, hallway).
