This has to be the most unique stunning tranquil Resort I have ever stepped foot in that isn't near the Ocean, Aman Fayun is a completely restored Historical Village as it once was nothing has changed except the Village stores are now Resort restaurants and shops perfectly and up to 5 + standards Restored, The Old Villagers Homes have been... We loved the location, the quiet, the staff, and the city, but the food could have been better

We are travelling in Hangzhou and would like to try the tea house inside Amanfayun this afternoon. Firstly, when we called the shop at noon for direction, the staff didn't remind us that all seats have been reserved. When we arrived, we were told that all seats were reserved while we found that there were at least 4 tables vacant... More

Tip 1: book the hotel car to meet you at the train station. You don't want to wait 40 minutes in the taxi line and then deal with a rude taxi driver who can't understand you (I speak Chinese by the way) Tip 2: don't bother stopping at West Lake - the drive to Amanfayun will take you around the... Wonderfully located in Hangzhou, one of the most charming and romantic city in China, discreetly secluded in the middle of tea plantations and surrounding by some of the most famous temples of the city, Amanfayun is a superb property, a very different place absolutely unique. Aman has designed this resort in a old village perfectly renovated but the atmosphere has... More

This was my 4th trip to Hangzhou in 2 yrs & my 2nd stay @ Amanfayun.  Of the 3 hotels in the area (banyan tree, 4 seasons, Aman), this is still my favorite. 4 seasons would be my 2nd choice.   The 4 seasons (5 min cab ride away) has a beautiful manicured Chinese garden & very good restaurant JinSha, overall... We staid at Amanfayun 3 days in October 2011. It is as close to Paradise as possible. A really enchanted place, where it is natural to slow down and relax, taking in the refined beauty of the village-hotel, its creek, the pilgrims to the temples passing by, and underneath it all the almost invisible and yet perfectly efficient network of... Let's start with the things you absolutely need to prepare before visiting Amanfayun to ensure you survive: #1 bring a very strong insect repellant - the mosquitoes and midge flies are relentless and there is nothing you can do about them ... short of wearing full-body netting! #2 bring very comfortable hiking shoes and preferably a Nordic walking pole. Anything... More

I should've written this long time ago (we visited last December), hope the comments can help the people interested in this resort. The resort is located at one of the most beautiful areas of Hangzhou, i.e. right next to the Ling Yin Temple, which is also my favorite place in Hangzhou. Last time I visited Hangzhou was 7 years ago,... More

hotel and staff were great. rooms nice, however lights were not good enough, had to go outside to read a book, not great. Bathrooms are like heaven but no baths! libary nice, pool good. Western restaurant great but stay away from Hangzhou house as food is poor and expensive! local sites a must see.
