We had originally planned to travel to Chengdu but since the earthquake happened (May 2008), we had to change our plans to Kunming at the last minute. Booked this hotel upon walk in and got a discounted rate for a double twin room for 300Y/night. I honestly wasn't expecting much since we were only staying for 3 nights and the price was cheap, but I was pleased by the convenient location of the hotel (close to central business area with lots of shops and restaurants, across the street is a hip joint called The Camel Bar and an Internet Bar), the cleanliness of the hotel (comfy pillows and comforters, a few stains on the carpet but nothing too bad), and the surprisingly tasty spread of the complimentary breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet is mostly Chinese style with a few western options, but food is tasty and there are always two chefs on hand to make noodles/dumplings to order.
