This hotel really sucks. Staff is unfriendly and forgets all English when there are issues. If you want to pay with American Express be prepared to fight over it (they don't take it). Angara is superbly located -- it faces the main city centre. It is tourist-friendly, has an ATM in the foyer, a popular bar called London Pub. The rooms are small but functional. It's definitely a soviet-style block of a hotel and part of the charm was to stay in one. Free wifi in the foyer as well. More

This place is the worst for customer service in all the hotels we stayed at in Russia. When booking our hotels, we asked for mid-range three star hotels. We paid about $120 for a dingy, smelly, dark room, that was accessed by a dark hallway with very worn carpet and smelled like someone's left-over chicken dinner from a month ago.... More

This is an old Soviet time hotel with high prices which do not reflect quality of the service. We had to wait for check-in for almost half an hour and pay twice for one double room (each person separately). Clean, safe, location is satisfactory. Rooms are quite small and the beds are like hammocks :). Service from the floor housekeeper was awesome but the front desk staff have had their faces frozen in a permanently dour expression. The hotel is located between the station and the center of the city - but still, there is some distance to the station, so it is better to take a bus, but then it is quite ok.
