Although its an avarage hotel, the price tag of Intourist makes it a good option in Velikiy Novgorod. During my stay I havent experienced any problems with the hotel and with the staff. Walking distance to the main tourist sites, located in a quieter area near the river, and some forests. If you grab a map, you can walk around the smaller neighborhoods to see locals. Head to the River tent bars for an interesting night.

I was interested to stay at an Intourist as a relic of the Soviet era. It was (just about) walking distance to the wonderful sights of the Novgorod Kremlin and taxis in Novgorod are cheap (although the vechicles are of dubious roadworthyness!). I think, that it isn't a very good hotel. First, we thought, that it is quite OK, BUT when we came to our room... We were afraid!!! And when we came to shower, we were shocked!!! So, all 3 days we couldn't take a shower, because we were scared. And in other hand, it is a normal hotel.

Clean and renew hotel but still a little bit soviet. Friendly staff speaks English quite good. Rooms are clean. Some people may find that location is not good: it takes about 10 minutes to the main sightseeings. One I can say that it is the best hotel for its money.
