Stayed one week for business and tourism and had a great time. Hotel is communist fancy style with Stalin picture, great halls and huge rooms. Two blocks from Dinamo metro station makes it easier to go around. Magnificent breakfast.

Finest soviet architecture and horrible soviet service (we went for breakfast at 7am, according to the hotel policy, only to find out that it will be served after 11am...). The monument to the past, all bad and good, might appeal to history lovers, and that was the reason we booked it. And that was worth it. But for pleasure seekers... More

The hotel is a typical retro hotel, marble staircase, drapes and curtains everywhere, pianos playing during meals... The rooms are OK but not something special, you can't call this retro but rather dated, it is just old, and relatively bad maintained, especially as regards bathroom . The choice has been to keep the original decor and atmosphere, Breakfast is of... More

We were in Moscow for a business trip and stayed here for 9 nights. The first night we went for dinner at the hotel restaurant and waited two hours for our food, which finally came after we complained. This did not improve with subsequent visits. The food was fine but the menu is very limited. I called room service one evening... More

I have stayed for 3 nights and it is a very nice looking hotel with marble floors and long corridors with high ceilings. It is well wroth a look if you like this type of thing. The rooms are dated and not as well furnished as the lobby and corridors. They are very dated and the beds are hard and... More

Of our 7 day Moscow stay, 3 nights were spent in the Sovietsky and 4 at the Cosmos. After the chaos and 3rd rate service at the Cosmos we regretted not having spent that little bit more at the Sovietsky. Located in an area whose highlights are a major road artery which never sleeps and a scruffy park which is... More

The hotel is impressive, that for sure... The huge marble staircase, drapes and curtains everywhere, harps and pianos playing during meals... The rooms are large (especially the bathrooms) but, in line with the concept of the hotel, some are relatively bad maintained, especially as regards bathroom appliances. The choice has been to keep the original decor and atmosphere as untouched... More

I guess that the hotel was in its hey day thirty years ago based on the gallery of guests, but they haven't done much decorating since. Nevertheless it is a big hotel with lots of glimpses of its past splendor. The rooms are very big, but the furniture is quite tired. The price was brilliant, but it really is quite... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Sovietsky. I lived in Moscow for 4 years in the 90s so I chose it for the Soviet nostalgia element and it didn't disappoint. I loved the way they have kept some of the original features yet modernised enough to make it comfortable for the modern traveller. My room and bathroom were spacious... More

The hotel is full of history and filled with wonderful paintings. The staff is very efficient and the hotel is located near Dynamo Metro station (about 10 min. walk), which takes you to the Kremlin in about 12 minutes.
