Lonely Planet ranks this highly as a budget hotel. For only a few dirham more, go find another riad. The sheets were clean but everything else was pretty bare bones. My wife hated the smell.

Very helpful staff made our visit to Essaouira very easy. The rooms are very clean and the views are very nice. The fish market and restaurant was a wonderful experience. The hammam for women was a great experience--highly recommended if you have the time.
The trouble with this Riad is the stairs! When we got there the power was off and we had to lug our bags up five very steep flights of stairs in the dark...not great if you are older than 25. No towels in the room and no soap. Promised Internet connections never eventuated. Had booked for three nights and left...

We were a bit doubtful walking down the alleyway to get to this riad (cats everywhere!) but once we were inside we were very pleasantly surprised. The inner courtyard in the reception area is beautiful and the staff were very helpful (we hadn't booked). They gave us a map, directions and recommended a few restaurants to us. Our twin room...

The rooms are homely, If a tad small, The welcome is warm without being excessive, the breakfast on the upstairs terrace is AMAZING, There was a TV in my room but it didn't seem to be working, The quality of service and the beauty of the Riad...

Out of all the places we stayed in Morocco this was the most disappointing and distressing. I had read some where that educated con artists are moving into these traditional Riads and scoring big time with money and conning tourists by running the show. This is the place. I found the two main guys on the counter all to eager...

Like many others, we trusted the guide book and booked this place. Should have consulted Tripadvisor first... Damp, but then so is all Essaouira, smells of sewers, but then so does all Essaouira and just a little bit depressing, but then so is all Essaouira.
On the plus side, we found the staff very friendly and welcoming, they were happy...
