We travelled to Makunudu Island in the first week of Easter, April 2012. We travelled as a family and stayed for seven nights. This was our third trip to the Maldives but our first to Makunudu. On our first and second trips we visited Sun Island Resort & Spa, which to give credit is a good island, but Makunudu was... More

Overall just an amazing trip that I would recommend to any couple looking for privacy and romance. The island is very small - walkable in about 5-10 minutes. Most travelers there are from Europe (Germany, Italy, France, and UK), and though friendly, keep to themselves. Everyone there was nice, but clearly looking for private time and relaxation rather than making... More

Stayed for a week 18th -26th March. Hut 31. Lovely small island with relatively few guests (72 Max I think) Not as much variety of food as our previous island (thulhagiri) but more than adequate choice even for a fussy eater like me. I'm not a diver so can't comment on that but we had a great time snorkelling with... More

During our stay on Biyadhoo Resort - the management offered us a upgrade to Makunudu - and it really was a upgrade. Beachfront bungalow with sunbeds, and spaceious room with a lot of charm and atmosphere. We simply loved the restaurant - so great food - yummi. The beach was like in our dreams of Maldives - great snorkling. Just... More

We stayed here for 6 nights in Dec 2011 to relax after an exhausting trip around southern India. We chose Makunudu mainly because it was relatively inexpensive, really small, and very quiet. No disco!!!! It only has cabins, no stilt houses, so everyone is equal here. None of the snobbery that can exist at other resorts. Clientele is mostly German... More

We were offered an upgrade to Makunudu for three nights from Biyadhoo. We hesitated a little as we had so little information to work on but we accepted as we had previously visited Biyadhoo and thought this would be a good opportunity to see another island. We were glad we accepted the upgrade. Food was a step up from Biyadhoo... More

It may have been that we came from Sri Lanka having been travelling around or just we dont/cant do small Islands. We only stayed for 3 days any more and we would have had to build a raft to get off. We snorkelled around the island in 1 hour, amazing sights even though it was choppy. Food, very nice, drink... More

Makunudu is a quiet, small and relatively affordable place. It's natural beauty in combination with the absence of a large crowd and the many actvities that only distract from nature itself on other islands made it the right choice for us. The small divingschool is fine but be aware of the bill at the end of your stay before signing... More

Very small island - only has 38 rooms. Diving is excellent!! Food is fantastic. Some parts of the beach can be difficult to walk on because of coral so beach shoes are a good idea, especially when getting into the sea. However, you do not really need shoes at all to walk around. Very quiet of an evening. Staff are... More
