We have stayed at STAR on ten occasions and it has always been excellent, although they do seem to have a big problem with noisy guests. Food and friendly staff are first rate. We have spent three new years there but last year was awful. Meal at the Italian restaurant Peppino was mediocre, there was no band in the lobby... more

I found this hotel to be just beautiful my partner and I stayed there for 5 nights. That wasnt enough! We loved everything, the grounds so green and relaxing, the staff were just fantasic, the location, the rooms spacious, a good variety of dining. We stayed one week in a Seaview Room in the Tanjung Wing and it was fabulous. The room was large with plenty of hanging space and drawers and a place to store 2 suitcases. We arrived from Hong Kong for just 4 days and were surprised with the welcome. Very friendly, refreshing towels and drink. Shown straight to the Kinabalu club where the staff were efficient and friendly. Room Cleaning was good and turndown service excellent. Toiletories replenished etc. although on one day we had to complain about cleanliness of room and the maids... more

Very beautiful resort with a fantastic SPA facilities. We had a great time here. Close by to town for Sabah seafood dinners. more

The Tanjung Aru resort is a very pleasant resort. The rooms were large and clean with nice views, the facilities were adequate and the service was OK but there was nothing great about it. For a Shangri-La (and the amount we paid) this probably fell below my expectations and there was nothing outstanding about the resort, facilities or the staff.... more
