Comforting stop after the climb from the bottom to the Laban Rata.Great place to recover eat rest and sleep before and after the amazing climb of Mt Kinabalu.Absolutely amazing views from this hotel and of the mountain.Food is awesome.

It is a good place for you to recharge after a few hours hike. The dorm that I stayed contains two double decker beds which can accommodate four people.The temperature is around 10 degree celsius, wear warm clothes as no heater is provided in the room. Most of the hikers will stop at Laban Rata to rest before continue their journey to the summit. It's a hostel with bunk beds. It took about 5 hours journey from Timpohon Gate to Laban Rata. Compared to the facilities on other mountain treks I have done Laban Rata was a real treat. Since its the only place on the way to the summit, unfortunately no other choice Dorms - dirty, small, very cold. Water is freezing. Walls are thin, noisy. Provide bedsheets and towels. Have keetles and cups in the kitchen. Toilets and showers are pretty clean. Restorant - with an amazing view, decent buffet and good choice of hot drinks.

There isn't much to say except this is the only place to stay since it is a resting point at Laban Rata. Overall, it's decent and meets all requirements for a decent stay. I have impression that all the poor assessment of Laban Rata are wriiten by people who have never climbed a mountain. Laban Rata is a hut located at 3,272 metres above sea level. Whole supply (equipment, food, drinks and in the dry season even water) of the shelter is provided by the porters who carry it up on their back.... More
