Have a deluxe room and ask for discount! Room is huge (for backpacker standards) with comfy chair and good bed! Tv with moviechannel and fridge. Bathroom is big but shower was getting a bit old, still fine. Service is good, friendly staff and the make sure your have Everything you need. Breakfast included, standard but fine.

Stayed at this hotel conveniently located in town and easier for my mum & 10-yr old daughter to move around with nearby coffee shops & stores selling local food & souvenirs. Close to wet market opposite and 5-10 mins walk to nearby shopping complexes too. There's a night market closeby and the hotel staff are equally courteous & helpful.

I stayed here before when it was still new...it must be 5 years now since that last stay and many things are starting to look average. The room is still spacious and clean. The only setback is there are lots of cockroaches scurring around. Just too many of them! I'm wondering whether the hotel has engaged a pest control company... More

Mixed feelings about the D'Borneo Hotel in Kota Kinabalu. Positives were that the staff are very friendly and helpful, the location is great (opposite the night market) and the breakfast selection is good. Negatives were that the bathrooms could do with a very good clean and added to that a good extermination as we had several cockroaches running around ours.... More

Initially, this seemed an OK budget deal - comfortable beds, kettle, tea and fluffy-ish towels, however, it was crawling with cockroaches. Staff didn't seem surprised and did move us but the place was clearly infested. Avoid this hotel until they have dealt wih their infestation.

Our room - particularly the bathroom - had not been cleaned... disgusting. We checked out early as a result with an apology but the receptionist didn't seem at all surprised. The entire hotel - even on the non-smoking floors - reeks of cigarette smoke. Breakfast was inedible. Book elsewhere.

Lovely cheap hotel right in the middle of Kota Kinabalu city. Staff are very friendly and efficient, adequate breakfast and the family room is large.Walking distance to restaurants,shops and on the doorstep is a nightly market.

Comfortable but looking very weary and in need of a renovation. Laundry service made all my clothes smell gross and were unwearable until they were washed again! Not too bad but not great.
