For those who love nature, a trip to Sabah's Kinabatangan River is a must! We stayed at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge and enjoyed every moment. The lodge's commitment to eco-tourism and attention to the environment (including attempts at self-sufficency in energy and water) is to be commended. The staff was simply wonderful, from Husin the head cook to Annie (whose... More

Just wanted to give people a positive feedback on this lovely lodge. We stayed here the beginning of April for 2 nights with 2 children aged 14 and 10. The pick up from our hotel in Sandakan (The Nak Hotel - see my other review) through to arrival at the Jetty to collect the boat was fine. Richard was our... More

We stayed at Sukau Lodge as part of a 4-day EcoBorneo trip. I have only praise for both the trip and the lodge - it was simply a perfect holiday. Nestled in the jungle, with monkeys in the trees, geckos on the walls and the sounds of hornbills and gibbons, the lodge nonetheless provides a beautiful and comfortable place to... More

We went expecting basic accommodation and facilities so we were astounded to find such comfortable accommodation in the jungle! Fabulous welcome, delightful rooms, great meals and incredible wildlife. Our guide Fernando, Captain Jack the skipper, Peter and Annie were great. A trip of a lifetime - thank you

I had the pleasure of spending three nights at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge along the shore of the Kinabatangan River. I drove from Sandakan and left my car at Lepit jetty for the few nights I was there. There was a bit of a mix-up in getting me picked-up from the jetty but the on-side manager Donnie was there to... Wonderful. You need to understand what this place is about. If you go expecting resort-style luxury and facilities you will be disappointed, so don't ! It's a lodge in the rainforest, and a fantastic location in a beautiful environment. The facilities are very good, the rooms are comfortable, the showers are hot, the staff are excellent and the food is... More

We stayed at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge as part of our Borneo Eco Tour and we had an amazing time! Our guide Jamaidi (or Jay) was excellent! He made sure his group was always ready to go and were the first ones in line for the turtles (at Selingan) and orang-utans (at Sepilok). So when he heard there were a... More

Right in the heart of the rainforest with beautiful animals and plants on your doorstep. What a wonderful place. Staff lovely, food good, experience second to none. Would be good if we could dry out our clothes after a drenching yesterday but this morning's early cruise made up for it with hornbills, orangutans and proboscis monkeys all on view!! Would... More

In the rainforest and reachable only by boat. Crocodiles, monitors, various monkeys, elephants, snakes and loads of birds. Walk in the trackless rainforest (but not without a guide!) and get some leech socks. Lodges are spacious, clean and basic. Food ok but limited choice. Staff/service fair to good. Extreme humidity and you are wet all the time.
