This rainforest complex is 2 and 1/2 hours out from the nearest town. On the road you can experience elephants, tropical birds, lizards, and excellent Danum Valley views. The lodge is several buildings fronting a rainforest river, with a central main dining and service area, and surrounding standard and deluxe chalets. Deluxe rooms primarily face the river with private verandas... More

Now this place for us left us in a bit of a dilemma. Firstly the chalets: we went for a delux one and the standard was very high it was hard to fault the room wherever in the world it might have been, the fact that it was 3 hours from anywhere (and Lahad Datu is not really somewhere) then... More

It was with some trepidation that my wife and I forked out for BRL some months in advance of our trip to Asia. It is clearly not a cheap option, and most certainly more extravagant than our usual travelling fare. However, if money is an issue to you (as it is to us), I would suggest approaching it this way-... More

After reading other recent reviews, there is not much to add.Superlative. Everything from the food to the room to the guide was top notch. While it is made quite clear by the guides that spotting wildlife is not guaranteed, we seemed to have been incredibly lucky. Our guide was Ryan, whom we would recommend without reservation. While trekking, we encountered... More

Simply loved it. We booked the 3 day 2 night package. You have to fly into Lahad Datu and from there take a 4x4 3 hours through secondary and then primary rainforest. The journey is quite bumpy as the road is dirt track but the views and scenery is breathtaking as you can see the landscape transform from mainly cultivated... More

We loved it here. We booked a 3Day/2Night package through Borneo Nature Tours (the only tour operator who you can use for Danum Valley) which was Full Board in a Deluxe Chalet. The transfer from Lahad Datu airport is a bit of a trek in the 4x4 but some of the scenery on the way in is breathtaking. Fording the... More

Borneo Rainforest Lodge was wonderful. We’ve stayed in many wildlife lodges all over the world and I think we’d put this one in the top five. The room was very comfortable with a great view of the river. The food was amazing. The lounge area was great for kicking back with a drink. The location is absolutely spectacular. The wildlife... Probably 4.5 stars. Coming on the back of some rather 'basic' venues, this was particularly welcome and proof the you can live in style deep in the jungle.  It is an 80km ride from Lahad Datu, but only the last 10km or so is really bumpy - we thought the journey was fun and you are taken there is sale... Primarily we were in Sabah to see wildlife in the jungle, having previously visited Abai Jungle lodge and Tabin Wildlife Resort (see reports). This place was the most luxurious of the 3. Our cabin with its oversize bathtub on the verandah overlooking the river was sensational with the added option of the animals passing by. Sambar deer and wild pig... More

We were there for 3 days. It was such an amazing time, and such a wonderful place. We have never experienced better service, and our guide Ryan was just terrific. All the guides were very passionate about the wildlife. The room was amazing, as was the rest of the lodge, and the food was overwhelmingly good! Everything about the stay... More
