I stayed at the Fujita Nara hotel while sightseeing around Nara. It is a great location and I found the staff very friendly and helpful, even though I speak no Japanese. My room was small, even by Japanese standards, yet was certainly adequate for 1 person.

We couldn't get into Hotel Nara so chose this one as a back-up. Very expensive for what you get which is pretty basic. No frills with the decor. Staff were ok - they seemed a little burned out though.

A standard hotel on the main strip of the tourist area. The rooms are adequately furnished but the cleanliness is a bit under Japan's norm (which is ridiculously high) so it is still clean. There is free wired internet if you remember to bring an ethernet cable.
