We choice to stay in a stylish hot-spring hotel rather than the transitional one. It was not disappointed to us. The staff in lobby upgraded us a room with private pool. The staff is nice and many of them are men in the lobby. The meal is excellent. They served the meal like an artistic product. The list out a... More

I supposed the rate of this ryokan is considered mid-ranged but the price is still considered high for what we received. While the Japanese-style room is spacious, there is nothing fancy about it. They should have clean the door to the balcony as it was very dusty. The bathroom was dated but clean and I am quite satisfied with it.... More

Aura Tachibana was our first stay in a traditional Japanese Ryokan. Service: The service was excellent from the start, the staff was very friendly and spoke good english. Room: We had a traditional Room whith Tatami mats on the floor and Futon beds (we used a second futon layer for our 2nd night) The room itself was ok but nothing... More

We stayed in a Traditional Room, and prior to my visit, I had confirmed IN WRITING with the hotel that the rooms had been renovated in Dec 2009. I had a written confirmation from the reservations manager of this fact. However, when we arrived, they gave us 2 rooms that were very old, very smell (moldy smell that came from... More

We wanted to experience a Japanese-style room (on tatami matts) so booked one in this hotel for one night. Hakone is a small, picturesque town set in the countryside which allowed us to experience some wonderful peace after Tokyo. The free shuttle service to and from the station was perfect and the reception area beautifully modern with welcoming tea and... More

This was by far one of the highlights of Japan for me. We'd booked a night at this place as a little relaxing getaway from Tokyo and I'm so happy we did! The views were spectacular, and the food was unlike anything we'd ever encountered. The staff were very respectful, friendly and attentive, they talked us through everything from the... More

My family, including a 10-year-old, stayed one night here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The traditional Japanese tatami room was a little dated but very comfortable and spacious. The publi onsen (men and women separated of course) was lovely, with both indoor and outdoor pools. If you're shy, there is always the private onsen on the roof terrace which can be... More

The food alone is worth making the trip for. If you like Kaiseki dining or if you have an interest in Japanese haute cuisine, Aura Tachibana will not disappoint you. Both our dinner and breakfast sets were delicious, varied and beautifully presented. The only criticism I had was that dinner was a bit too much food and they could probably... More

We booked 2 nights here in April. We were picked up by the Ryokan's minibus from Hakone Station. It's a 5 minutes drive or 10 minute walk away. The welcome we got blew us away - 3 people rushed out with umbrellas, there was lots of bowing and they grabbed our luggage and took us into the stylish lobby where... More

This ryokan was anything what I've expected of Japanese ryokans. It's very modern and trendy. The restaurant is excellent. The onsen is very clean and big and has a wonderful outdoor bath. Rooms are spacious, traditional ryokan style with tatamis and futon. Unfortunately, only free internet in the lobby and lounge area. Staff was very helpful and tried their best... More
