I agree with the previous reviewers that it is a difficult decision with many options in the Hakone area. So based on all the positive tripadvisor reviews we selected Taiseikan and were not disappointed. We booked via Japanican which was an easy process. All information provided on how to get there made it easy once you got off the train.... More

With all the choices in the Hakone area, we had a bit of a problem deciding which one to stay at. A good friend (Japanese) made the reservation for us by phone and booked all four of us in a suite situated in the oldest part of the ryokan. The suite was absolutely wonderful! We had one large room, a... More

Dear Sir or Madam, Thank you very much for staying with us this time. The room which you had stayed is one of the most popular rooms here inTaiseikan. And it has both enough space and relax atmosphere that you can stay in. We are very glad to hear that you are satisfied with your stay ,after considering many Ryokans(Japanese... More

This was the fourth ryokan we stayed at during our recent trip to Japan and certainly had the most novelty value given the means of arrival is by the private cable car! The welcome from staff, both through the email booking process and on our arrival was extremely warm and the lady assigned to look after us during our stay... More

Hospitality starts from when you make the online reservation, they immediately prompt me on their dinner style and ask my preference on food. as I entered the hotel, everybody was expecting me and really feel being welcomed throughout the stay. The hotel is only a 2 mins’ walk away from the railway station in a quiet small town, you’ll then... More

After a funny transport in the cable car, you discover a lovely place, right the torrent. It is really of the main road and this is calm and isolated. Perfect to have a peacefull time. The hotel staff is present and you feel welcome. The service is wonderfull. You will find at least one person speaking fluent english and most... More

Thank you very much for your praised words to us. You know ,one of our Ryokan´s good points is every guest can feel free and relaxed such place where isolated and full of nature. We have less amusement things around here. So to welcome warmly is our very important part for our guests. We are very glad that you felt... More

We had a simply fabulous time at this ryokan. We stayed in Japanese ryokan all through our trip, but this was our splurge for one night on the way from Tokyo to Kyoto. Once you drop your bags off at the top of the cable car railway the service kicks in at an outstanding level. The ride down to the... More

If you want to try traditional Japanese hotel, this is the place. We started off with the cable car ride, quite impressive, definitely something different any other hotels. Hotel staff was very friendly and polite, 1 of the gentleman speak fluent English, no problem in communicating. Service was execellent. They wouldn't even let me carry my backpack, insist that they... More

Dear Sir or Madam, Thank you very much for your comments and recommendation of our Ryokan to your friends. There are few Ryokans that have its own vehicle in Hakone. It´s only 300 meters down from our private Keikoku train information, but the atmosphere down here is something different from that of up there. You know,Kaiseki style full course dinner and... More

The rest of my trip involved standard western-style hotels - this was very different! The individual service, the traditional style rooms and food, and the wonderful setting all combined to make this very memorable. Once you accept the traditional style - eg eating in you room alone, and the frequent bowing of the staff - then the whole thing becomes... More

Can't recommend the Taiseikan too highly. It was a fantastic experience of another world and time and a highlight of our trip to Japan. We could not have been better looked after. We went to Hakone to see the mountains and, given the weather, saw nothing but mist. But the room, meals and baths at the Taiseikan made it all... More

Thank you very much for your good comments about us. Hakone is a mountainious area and the weather is changeable. We are very sorry that you can't enjoy Mt.Fuji or the scenery here. Maybe some other time. We will keep trying to do our best to make our Ryokan better. Please come back and stay with us. Thank you very... More
