We stayed in Gora Kadan for 2 night and we loved it! The place is amazing as well as its service. We were pampered all the way through. Breakfast and dinner was served in our room just for two of us and food was amazing and service was fun and impeccable. This is truly great Japanese experience and I recommend... More

Gora Kadan is a super fancy ryokan (very expensive), where you will get fantastic service, someone assigned just to your room for dinner and breakfast service (both were excellent). They will pick you up from the train station and can drop you off to the train or the cable car at Gora, and generally do everything they can to help.... More

The Gora Kadan is a unique property and certainly a unique experience from a Western perspective. The overall feeling was one of tranquility and perfection. After leaving the Gora Kadan we felt relaxed and rejuvenated. The calming baths and hot spring water truly felt wonderful and the cultural experience is unmatched. The in room dining experience was a long process... More

This ryokan is in a remote area but nice setting as it is a short tram ride up to Mount Fuji and has by far the best service i have ever experienced in all my life - so attentive - for instance we arrived in the rain and immediately 4 staff ran out with umbrellas to us 4 travellers and... More

Really felt so much overwhelmed by their excellent hospitality and makes me wondering how come the Swiss hospitality has been awarded as world best when I found the true meaning of hospitality here at this place in Japan. Not only the hospitality given by hotel staffs but I also love the room settings here. Not only comfort but also the... More

Never disappoints. If you have foreign friends coming to town and money to spend, then I would not hesitate to recommend this place. Great atmosphere, out of the world food, relaxing and epitome of what Japanese Onsen culture is. Few nice parks and outdoor museums around the area, which was a great hit for kids!

We wanted a ryokan experience and I knew that Gora Kadan would be special given reviews. My only concern was whether it would be worth the high cost and happily it lived up to expectations. The attention to detail by Gora Kadan's owner is tremendous - as would be expected for a first rate hotel in Japan. The building has... More

This hotel is a must if you want to have a little experience on Japan. You will get the amazing, careful, fantastic service of Japan, local cuisine at its best and a room to remember you that not everyone in the world has the same habits as westerns. Once you arrive you have your personal hostess waiting for you at... More

We've just come back from a 10 day trip around Japan and the two night stay we spent at Gora Kadan was one of the highlights of the trip. It is classified as a ryokan but it really is a unique and special place which defies categorisation. In terms of design, service, food, accommodation and experience it ranks as one... More

Gora Kadan is a gorgeous ryokan with outstanding service, delicious food, an amazing gift shop and beautiful rooms and onsen. However, it is not easy to get there unless you know Japanese or are familiar with Japan. Similarly, it would be a bit intimidating using their onsen unless you have some experience with onsen customs. If those factors are not... More
