Hotel was very close to the tourist area along the canal but quite a long but management walk from the Kurashiki train station. Stayed 2 nights and our room had lovely view of the surrounding area. Onsen and laundry room on the top floor were very handy. Room was average size for Japan.

This hotel is ideally located, immediately over the road from the main sightseeing area of Kurashiki, and a few hundred metres walk from Kurashiki station (Note: this is Kurashiki, not the shinkansen stop of Shin-Kurashiki.) For those interested in experiencing a Japanese onsen (communal bath), there's one on the top floor which includes an outdoor bath (though make sure you... More

Room Type :STANDARD DOUBLE ROOM (dn) (WITH SHOWER AND TOILET/NON SMOKING) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2Person=8000JPY Reserved through rakuten. We really like Dormy Inns. This one had a very good location. This size bed seems to work for us (used to queens/we are not big people). We both had a relaxing public bath on the top floor of our Dormy Inn. It’s wasn’t... More

We stayed here on the way to Naoshima. We were so impressed with this hotel, we decided to stay an extra night. Beautifully appointed room, tastefully decorated, with views over the old Kurashiki town precinct, all the usual additions (free WiFi in room etc.) with a VERY comfortable bed. The double room was larger than most other rooms in similar... More

This is a hotel you would choose mainly for the location. It is about 10 minutes easy walk from the station and located right beside the Bikan Historical District which is wonderful. Nearby you will also find the O'Hara Museum of Art, Toy Museum, temples, and other sights. It is a very compact area so nothing is too far away.... More

The Dormy Inn reflects a mostly-business focus with quite small rooms and minimal 'extras', but the location is great for seeing the Bikan historical district. Therefore I'd recommend it to tourists. Like most Japanese hotels, you'll find the room compact but clean. The layout of the room is a little unusual, with a shower/toilet unit on one side of the... More

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. The hotel seemed to be brand new. The reception staff speak little English (as stated by earlier reviewers), but they were friendly and did try their best to help you. They have handy printed leaflets in English which they handout when checking in. The rooms are new, clean and well equipped. The onsen... More

Kurashiki has a quaint old area with shops and restaurants along a canal. This seems to be it's main attraction. Hotel is close to this and within walking distance of the train station. Tourist info just outside train station was very good and spoke good English. Hotel was clean and room was small (usual for Japan though). Hotel had an... More

The ugly modern box shape of the Dormy Inn contrasts badly with the beautiful 1793 Ohashi House next door. However once inside it is a different story - the hotel rooms are spacious by Japanese standards, very clean and functional. The Dormy has two cute onsens (male and female) free laundry (washing) coin drier and free internet. Kurashiki mainly caters... More

We mainly choose this hotel because of the price and the location. Within walking distance from the station and right next to the canals, the main attraction of Kurashiki. At first glance this hotel appears like a standard business hotel. We were therefore pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and the large rooms. Also, the onsen on the top floor... More
