We stayed at this cozy, clean and comfy inn in January 2012 with the entire family (2 kids & 3 adults). We stayed in a large tatami room split in two sections on the 3rd floor with great views of the Japan alps. The onsen is a pure traditional hot spring. This was my second visit to Sakamotonoyu. Consistantly welcoming, family atmosphere with great food and ability to accommodate large groups like pros! Centrally located above the Asama Onsen area, many of the room views overlook the village and to the alps. Enjoyed my stay and look forward to coming back.

Stayed for a night in June ahead of a bike race in the area. Ideal with nice friendly atmosphere. Great food too.

We stay there every year for the Tour de Utsukushigahara, a hill-climb bike race attracting several thousand competitors. Sakamotonoyu has: -Fantastic "kakenagashi" onsen baths -Great service -Nice views -Very clean and peaceful, at the foot of the Utsukushigahara mountain range (2000m), but only 15 minutes from Matsumoto station and castle.
