Pongyi guesthouse offers entertainement for the guest (food, games, discoverirs ...), Japanese comfort and smiles. It is not big (4bunk beds for boys and 4 bunk beds for girls) so book in advance. It is a real chance to discover a bit of Japanese life. Check their facebook page to be convinced. You will sit on your knees, go to...

When we arrived we were surprised by how small Pongyi was, but that just added to its charm. A 120 year old building, prevously a kimono shop, what a great place for some Japanese tradition! Hosts were incredibly nice and included all of the 20 or so guests in dinner plans and origami lessons every day. Trying other guests special...

Guesthouse Pongyi is a 10 minute walk from JR Kanazawa station. My girlfriend and I only stayed in Kanazawa for one night, but after staying at Pongyi we wish we had stayed longer.
The owner, Masaki, and his staff were very welcoming and accommodating. They took the time to explain the house rules and gave us a brief tour of...

Constructed in the traditional way with sliding doors and tatami mats, it offers a glimpse into Japanese life-style. At the same time, as a hostel, it is convenient,...

The owner speaks excellent English (as well as several other languages), is super helpful, and makes everyone feel at home and very welcome. There are bikes to rent for a very reasonably price, which is the best way to see a...

The owner is very nice and shares his small kitchen and bathroom with his gests. There are 2 dorms and one private room, were we slept with my wife and my little child for 6.000Y. As the house is quite old, he was a...

Decent facilities, dorm beds, location, nothing amazing there. So why a 5? The manager is an amazing human being - not only is he more than willing to help in very good english, he is the definition of going the extra mile. In the evening, he even took the time to take me to a local bathhouse to show me...
