On arrival at Takayama station, the tourist information centre rang the Ryokan for us and the owner collected us in his minibus. A real bonus when we realised how far out of the town it was. It really is too far to walk however the owner provides a regular shuttle bus each day, in addition to, there is a circular... More

nice place to get a japnaese ryokan experience for relatively cheap price...shared bath but my room had a private toilet and sink...very comfortable and the staff were nice...meal plans are available for about 3000 yen more (if you want the complete ryokan experience)...it's a bit far from the station though about 30 minutes by walking...but it is close to the... We booked this site through booking.com and got a great rate. Arrived at the railway station and the TIC called the ryokan for us and we were picked up. The ryokan is about 2km from the station, so walkable but probably not best with luggage! We got to our room and were amazed - it was huge! A traditional tatami... More

I have stayed here twice - once alone and once with family. Very hospitable and very spacious rooms. When we stayed as a family, we had three largish tatami rooms in our suite - it was like entering the set of some samurai movie. There was a beautiful view of the snow covered Japanese Alps to the east. The food... More

I was part of a tour and they prepared dinner and breakfast everyday for us. The other comment about the food being stale is absolute nonsense, because Japanese prepare food only with fresh ingredients! (Maybe the reviewer didn't have the taste for Japanese food?) Other than that, the management (which consist of only less than ten staffs) 'handled' us well,... More

My sister and I stayed in this ryokan as part of a tour and I have to say I found it to be really nice - the rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly. The food we had was some of the best we ate in all our time in Japan, extremely tasty and well presented.... More

The room was sub-standard, noisy, and smelled strongly of propane, which burned right outside our window. The food, while plentiful, was not fresh and often tasted stale. This at the high price of a luxury hotel. The owners seemed to sense our displeasure and offered to refund our money, if we wanted to leave early. We never received a refund.
