It took some work to find Kelebek in the old Greek neighborhood, threading the cobbled windy alleys, looking for their sign among all the signs on the walls. Towards the top of the neighborhood, the Kelebek has a commanding view of the town, the waterfront and the Aegean Sea. The rooms were comfortable, ask for air conditioning, the breakfast good... Enjoyed our two-night stay at this pension very much. It's in the heart of the old Greek town, surrounded by buildings that are tumbledown in a picturesque way, but the pension itself has been immaculately restored with some nice character touches. The owners are a Turkish couple -- he speaks excellent American-accented English, and she makes a really superior breakfast... More

We stayed at the Kelebek Pension for two nights and had a lovely stay. We were fortunate to get the top floor room mentioned by other reviewers. We had the terrace in front of our room all to ourselves most of the time and the early morning activity didn't bother us as we're usually up early. The room was nicely... More

We agree with all the positive comments on this site and can add a few more thoughts. Ours was the room at the top overlooking the breakfast terrace, so we had to be up by 8 am (no problem) but our hosts were very quiet and considerate until they knew we were up. The plus side about this room was... More

We enjoyed a wonderful stay in the pretty and atmospheric pension - rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean, and prettily decorated. The lovely roof terrace has a beautiful view over the old town - we enjoyed delicious Turkish breakfasts here - fresh produce and delicious tea/coffee, served by incredibly warm, friendly and attentive hosts. Even with a very early departure,... More

we asked for a double room with private bathroom; the room was small, but clean and nicely decorated; the bathroom so tiny that you could not sit on the toilet and close the door... We were on the top floor, which consists of the room, the terrace and... an open kitchen, which means that you'll be awake every morning at... More

All the positive comments made by other reviewers are true - helpful and very friendly owners, lovely view from the terrace, good breakfast etc (and there isn't a lot of choice in Ayvalik which hasn't really hit the hotel age). Also the 'honesty box' approach to taking drinks from the fridge is a really nice touch and very welcome. BUT... More

I was welcomed with a sunny "We were expecting you", assisted with my luggage and the fan turned on just as I stepped into my immaculate room. The interior of Kelebek Pansiyon is modern, fresh and inviting, even though it is located in the older part of Ayvalik. The view from the top floor breakfast patio overlooks Ayvalik and the... More

Hotels are rather expensive in Ayvalik. The Kelebek Pansiyon is a great alternative. The rooms are small but comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful and there is a breakfast on the terrace each morning with a great view. You'll meet other travellers much more readily here than you would at a hotel. Just one note - the room... More
