Very nice hotel with impressive foyer and approach - they were shocked when we arrived in a very ancient tuk-tuk (complete with cases). There are no taxis at the railway station. The room was comfortable, although the bathroom needed a bit of updating. The buffet breakfast was only passable, all in all, ok for a one-nighter. more

The staff on front desk the women are very rude , everything seems too much effort for them , in a nut shell there just not intrested. Had major problems with air con did not fix for 5 days. Have stayed here before for first time in april 2006. Very friendly staff right from the welcome at the airport to leaving the hotel after our stay. Ban Chiang is an Ok Hotel..for a night's stay. Two nights stay for us was barely tolerable. Most Udon Thani's residents are polite and helpful so this carries the hotel which caters mainly to Thai visitors. This is without doubt the best hotel in Udon, Happy Staff and if you need a gym it has the best one in Udon, The down side is it is away from shops and resteraunts, but a 50 baht sam lo ride will take you anywhere in the city. It is within walking distance of the park which is beautiful... more
