This hotel was recommended by the tour operator we engaged prior to our trip. While we had no ac, we were on an upper floor and the breeze was amazing. We didn't miss the ac. Lots of safari operators pick up at the hotel so you see them come and go all day. The breakfast and dining areas are large and buffets help to feed the masses quickly. Most safaris depart early morning when animals are active before the day's heat sets in. Nice place, clean, easy to get to (about 45 min from airport for us) and its well known.

The hotel property is great and the rooms are comfortable and very well decorated with a good view. Good options for Indians as it serves good indian food. The staff is very sweet. The only problem is that the service is very slow. Staff is polite but they almost always forget what you asked for. Our AC was broken throughout the stay and everyday we complained about it. They said they will fix it everyday but they forgot everytime and that made our otherwise good experience really bad.

Looks like a really nice hotel who was abandoned many years ago. Rooms and showers not in the best condition. Wifi didn’t work all our stay. Pool is disgusting with a green color. The worst part is they ask for a price like a Five stars hotel, but instead is better stay in other place for less than half of the price.

Booked seats on this shuttle (Impala, which I assume belongs to tje hotel as the office is on the hotel grounds) via the Impala website for transfer from Nairobi to Arusha and back in July-August 2019. Web booking seemed to work fine and confirmation was received. We called on arrival in Nairobi to confirm pickup details and were assured that we would be picked up at the hotel, and to our relief the shuttle did arrive, though about 30 mins late. Transfer to Arusha took much longer than anticipated, mainly because of the very slow border clearance: long lines, confusion and crowds. The real problem started when we tried to return to Nairobi from Arusha. One of our group was booked to travel back before the rest of us and, like the rest of us, had received his confirmation email. However, on arrival at the departure point in Arusha (Impala Hotel), the lady at the office refused to recognize our online booking, claiming that we were supposed to have had a paper ticket as well as our email confirmation that we had shown her. After a long delay and some arguing (the person traveling had a plane to catch from Nairobi Airport that evening), the lady reluctantly allowed him to board and he managed to get to Nairobi. To avoid a repeat of this, I immediately emailed Impala shuttles and Simon (the Impala contact who replied to messages sent to the 'info' email on the website and who it has to be said was responsive and helpful throughout) replied confirming that we were booked for the return trip and saying that there shouldn't have been a problem and we shouldn't need a paper ticket at all. However, to appease and reassure us, he emailed us a scanned copy of paper tickets and assured us that the office in Arusha had been sent a copy. So we turned up for our return trip to Arusha feeling fairly confident that there would be no repeat of the problem. However, when the same lady came to open the office, she immediately told us that we wouldn't be able to travel, in spite of all of the emails and reassurances from Simon. She was barely civil as she dismissed the copy of the emailed ticket that I had been sent by Simon, now claiming that 'Simon' wasn't acting on behalf of Impala and that the company had him in court about this. She was dismissive of the fact that we had made our reservation and paid for it not directly to Simon but via the Impala Shuttles website, and repeatedly refused to honour the reservation, saying that we needed to call Simon and sort it out ourselves but that we couldn't use any phone in the office. We had to use internet (which she eventually agreed to give us as the bus was loading up to leave) and WhatsApp on our phones to call Simon on a terrible connection which cut the call off after a few seconds. Not sure whether it was as a result of that call, but without any further explanation and certainly with no apology, the driver suddenly allowed us to board. Needless to say, if we're ever in Nairobi or Tanzania again we will avoid Impala Shuttles like the plague, and maybe try Riverside which is a bit more expensive and is hopefully actually reliable. If Impala Shuttles is selling tickets via its website, or allowing tickets to be sold, and then refusing to honour those reservations made via their own site, regardless of the reason given, that in our minds amounts to fraud and leaves them responsible, which is at least unprofessional and is also shameful. I have since received another apology from Simon by email, which is appreciated; however, since the office person who refused the tickets on 2 occasions never even attempted to be apologetic, my reservations about this shuttle company still stands. In my opinion, travelers would use at their own risk.

The only good features are: being clean, the nice staff, and the location. On the other side, is dark, very old with pieces of the ceiling falling, exposed electricity wires. It needs either an urgent makeover, or ti be shutdown for good.

If you have high expectations for a hotel in Arusha, Tanzania then you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. The hotel has a good location and is about one hour from the Kilimanjaro airport. You can walk to the center of town in 15 minutes, and the hotel itself is quite large. It may have been quite grand when it was built (perhaps in the 1980's?), but it has fallen on years of neglect and many of the facilities (5 restaurants? Spa? Corporate meeting rooms?) simply sit unused. There is a simple breakfast served in one of the restaurants each morning, and the "Italian" restaurant near the pool isn't a bad spot for dinner. The wi-fi won't work outside of the lobby, which is a large open-air common area with many wood carvings of animals and native peoples. Yes, the rooms have mismatched furniture and the bathrooms are set up oddly, but the rooms are clean and there staff are polite and helpful.

Sad to say the hotel was not really up to scratch, it is as described: old fashioned and out dated. In the room the kettle, air-conditioning and television did not work, fridge had to be plugged in yourself. For such a large bathroom it was so strangely set up, with space for both a bathtub and shower, the shower was still over the bath, and the towel rail under the shower spray. The wi-fi left so much to be desired, and as this was a work trip I was disappointed when it didn't work in the room at all, and was patchy elsewhere, constantly disconnecting and then being unable to reconnect. The key cards are also erratic, we had 2 for our double room and had to have both redone twice. The staff were friendly, but really had no way to help me. For US $130 a night you would expect at least some of the amenities to work? Don't think I will go back.

Maybe a little old, but people were very nice. Nice views from the last floor. We were a group of 19 and arrived very late at night (20.30 PM) the dinner was still waiting for us. thanks for that. the rooms odl fashion but the beds were really confortable. we did not have time to use the pool but looked very nice. In general very convenient for our first night in Africa, starting a safari early next day.
