We stayed two nights in Ayubowan Guesthouse. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean and well maintained - western standard. Brenda and Ron (the owners) are very helpful, nice people, answered all our questions before we came and during our stay. The guesthouse has nice garden with a swimming pool and is located quite close to the beach - 10... More

We stayed at Ayubowan guest house for two weeks in January 2012. The guest house is immaculate, but to the point where you are unable to relax and feel comfortable. When we arrived at our room, we were surprised that there were no tea or coffee facilities for guests, either in the rooms or in a communal area, as we... More

The guest house is small but the property is very attractive and clean. However after a long chat with Brenda it was abundantly clear that they don't really like running a guest house. We did not feel comfortable there and fortunately only stayed one night. On the back of the bedroom door are a series of rules, see attached photo.... More

We have just returned from an excellent 2 month stay at Ayubowan guest house. We could not have found a more delightfull place to stay.Ron and Brenda`s house is spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with a beautiful garden and pool, which is so nice to dip into. Our hosts were most wecoming and very helpfull to all the guests.Excellent breakfast, whatever you... More

I spent my first 4 nights in Sri Lanka at this guesthouse and I wasn't disappointed. Ron & Brenda arranged a pick-up from the airport which was worth it after the long flight from the UK. My room wasn't ready when I arrived at 5.30am but I was made to feel very welcome and as soon as the previous guests... More

I had a similar experience to Lind55london's review of June 2010. We had no issues with the property (apart from the dark lane to access it) but Ron caused us to feel very unrelaxed and to some extent continued to even after we returned home. As per previous reviews, the owners don't like pool water anywhere but in the pool,... More

If you are who we think you are then we would like to point out that you did not stay at Ayubowan at the time you say, several months prior to that would be more correct. If you had such a very unrelaxed stay why has it taken so long to write this review? There is no dark lane, unless... More

Before I start off let me say its a beautiful place with lovely garden and pool and they serve an excellent breakfast. This justifies the pricey cost per night. What did not was the way they separate their private space with the guests. A 'museum-rope' holds you back from their reception (staff only). Getting my dried pool-towel from their private... More

What surprises us is that you knew the cost of the room before arriving here but you make comment on the pricey cost! Separation of private space is done for a reason, to allow us to have private quarters of which the guests have no reason to enter. There is no guest reception area beyond the private sign. You chose... More

A really great stay. Brenda and Ron were incredibly helpful even before I arrived. The rooms are lovely; incredibly clean; breakfast was fantastic; the pool and gardens are spotless and I felt very welcome. More

I'm reluctant to write this review this review as the Ayubowan is such a great place to stay, I'm afraid next time I visit Sri Lanka it will be booked out! This is the second time I have stayed at the Ayubowan. Both times I have been impressed. Rooms are clean, breakfast is wonderful and a lovely pool. Ron and... More
