Don't stay here. Noisy, Fogging and pesticides in full view of guests with noisy machine at 6 a.m.. Pool closed at 6 pm. Bedrooms old and tired as are the towels. Air conditioning didn't work. Nice hide away in the middle of the centre, build on pillars in the sea. Good service, except of the breakfast staff. They intend to cleanup the breakfast buffet half hour before closing time, starting with the coffee. Overall best choice in Makassar

The environment outside is totally different from inside the Hotel. The Hotel owners probably wanted to recreate Bali in Makassar. Only stayed for one night, but seafront cottages over the water have a great sunset view - as does the sunset bar. Rooms and beds are comfortable - though furniture and bathroom fittings are beginning to look old. Enormous pool. Disappointingly, only western food was available. Arriving at 2am it was hard to gauge the hotel but the hardwood finishes and general ambience we reassuring! Daylight revealed a fab view across to the island. Pantai Gapura is one of my favourite hotel in Makassar. I love the place and also the food. Especially they serve your breakfast on the famous phinisi big boat. 1) Cottage room & services are standard, 2) Unique restaurant serving average local food 3) Local customer fishing on deck 4) Bar a bit noisy when there is a wedding or birthday party 5) Pool is standard but water quality quite cloudy. Their room are overprice and overated, don't be fool by the beautiful picture of their place. It's run down and the hotel entrance look like "bates motel". Was staying here because my tour leader book this place. There is a lot of better place to stay for the price this place is charging.
