We checked into The Ambassador Hotel, with reasonable expectations, given some photos we had seen of the hotel on the net. The hotel is well loctaed on Rajpur Road, but occupies the second floor of an old, shabby building.
When one comes out of the filthy, dilapidated lifts, one steps into an uninviting lobby. The rooms are down a long, dimly lit corridor. Some of the rooms are old and run-down, while some have been refurbished. The suite that we stayed in was awful. The geyser pipes were leaking, the bathroom was constantly a mess.
Since the hotel was sparsely occupied, we were given the key to another room for a day, and we had to trudge down the long, dimly-lit corridor to use the toilet. On the second day that we were there, the plumber and electrician were constantly in and out of our room. It was a mess. The room service boy was bringing us buckets of hot water to bathe with.
Instead of offering us a discount, the hotel actually charged...
