Set in a tucked away corner of Ootacamund (Udhagamangalam!), away from the honking and hustle of the average city-goer, King's Cliff still lives in a splendour of the British colonial life. A fabulously built bungalow with sprawling lawns and a lovely garden, King's Cliff comes across as a pearl in the Nilgiris. Food is above the average; Dining is not... More

It has been really hard to find a nice charming place adapted to westerners and with a good concept ( story ) integrated. we stayed for 3 nights - and was just perfect .sweet useful nepali mix indian staff, good and interesting menu ( expect chinese , not good), cosy rooms, fire place in bedrooms, nice little walk in forest... We arrived into Ooty via the Nilgiri Express at mid day and managed to make our way through the not inconsiderable amount of people hawking rooms, rikshaws and taxis at the station. We walked out of the station and found a rikshaw without any problem, who took us all the way up the hill to the Kings Cliff. The journey... More

A very scenic hotel on a hill top with a good garden . the staff was found to be very well trained and accommodating. the rooms are spacious and very well maintained. a good weekend we had... More

As a family we stayed here for 2 nights in March. We were given a very spacious room and an extra bed fitted-in no problem. The hotel is set in a beautiful stone bungalow and has very impressive communal rooms with carved wood features, parquet floors and open fires. The food is good and the menu varied. The only downsides... More

Our travel agent did not recommend Ooty but we insisted on visiting largely on the basis that so many other South India tours include Ooty on their itineraries and the ‘toy train’. We had initially booked the Taj Savoy but the hotel contacted us later to advise that all the other rooms had been booked by an Indian wedding party... More

If a drinky is your thing then take your own. Food very good but ridiculously long menu from around the world. I chose a starter and then after finding a main course, i could not find the starter again. Never did get it! Rooms ok but our shower tray had collapsed and was covered with astroturf. Same in the next... More

My wife and I arrived late and were very happy to find accommodation at Kings Cliff. While we had planned on staying two nights only, we had such a great time that we decided to stay for four! Whilst it was more expensive than where we usually stay, it is still cheap by western standards and this is definitely a... More

This little known hotel is a real gem.It is tucked away on the top of a hill close to town but quiet. The ambiance is quaint and the food is excellent. Do not take any of the rooms in the main block as it lacks privacy. The staff lit a fire in our room each night which was great. Since... More
