The Royal Court was the worst hotel we stayed at after 2 months travel in India. First problem was the RC would not allow us to change our booking (accidentally booked 2 rooms x 2nights instead of one via Agoda), even though we made contact immediately with Agoda and Royal Court...only allowing us to change it to 4 nights stay.... In our 10-day trip in south India we 've been to 5 hotels, ranging from 55 to 85€. This was by far the worst. Just pay a little money more and go somewhere else. Filthy, old, ugly, a room we didn't want to stay in not even for a second. The service was the only positive thing. We asked them... More

We took a family room (which ended up being a double with two mattresses on the floor). The room was clean, comfortable and modern and in walking distance from the temple. We enjoyed the roof-top dinner with a view of the temple in the distance. Staff was helpful but a bit slow (one bottle of water we ordered from room... More

During our three month trip to in we stayed at the Royal Court in Madurai for 4 nights in March, 2012. Our experience was extremely satisfying and pleasant. Our room was large and clean and the hotel central to the sites we wanted to see in Madurai. The two best things about the hotel was it's friendly and helpful staff... More

The hotel is strategically located in the main city. I would recommend for business travelers and family. The food is good. sleep quality is good. The staff has to be trained to a level of a star hotel service. other way hotel is good in old styled management.

Centrally placed across the road from the Railway Station, it is a walkable (just) distance from the Meenakshi temple. However the traffic in Madurai has become so awful you are better off taking an autorickshaw. The lobby has a veneer of comfort and the staff if not overfriendly are reasonably helpful. We had a standard type room which was of... More

Its a good hotel if you are traveling by train and visiting Meenakshi Temple. Its very near to the railway station and the temple is also not far. The rooms were nice and clean. The food was tasty. The chef was a very nice guy, he cooked customized food for my kid who was not well. All in all a... More

This is recommended for a no-frills, average-cost, comfortable stay in the centre of the city. Royal Court doesn't pretend to be a classy hotel, and so you're never disappointed. The hotel is just a 10-15 minute walk from the Meenakshi Temple and very close to the train station as well. I stayed for 2 nights (November 2011). I found everyone,... More

Stayed in hotel for a day. The 24 hours check out it plus point. From hotel room size and provisions you can sat that the hotel might be good at sometime but is not maintained well. The rooms are not very clean and evidence of previous stay could be found around. The room rates are on the higher side for... More
