We often travel in India by road. We have been living in India off and on for 20 years and travelling extensively. Living in Gujarat we have been through Udaipur many times but not stayed there often we have tended to avoid the touristy places. Then one time we were going to Udaipur rather than through it so I looked... more

Our trip to Udaipur happened long back. We chose this place based on the positive reviews. It did not work out for us. Since then, we have been watching this space wondering how different our experience was! Just came across the first negative review and thought of putting down what we went through. Even though we had a booking made... more

After I'd finished hyperventilating I decided to take another look at this review. Firstly it seems rather odd for someone to wait for many months or even years to add a review. I wonder what the objective was. Anyway there it is, a pretty grim review and, well, I have no idea who it was as nobody came forward with...

We agree with all previous reviews. This is unforgettable accommodation, feel like part of family. Amazing view and great food. The only place in India, where you can dring perfect cup of coffee (not Nescafe, but freshly grounded), without being hassled or annoyed by overreacting staff. You can enjoy tasty food prepared by Nepaliese family, and share your travel experiences... more

Sorry if your room was rather warm over night (Global Warming?). We have installed air-coolers in all rooms now so hopefully next time you visit, you will be snug rather than toasted!

After a hectic, hot and hassly tour of Rajasthan, Mountain Ridge came as a breath of fresh air. We spent two nights in downtown Udaipur and although we loved this old city, it was just too noisy a by night and the touts were a bit too pushy by day. Then we found Mountain Ridge and all changed. Wonderful place,... more

To Everyone Thank you for your kind words and reviews. I must say that over the years since we started our homestay, our guests have been contributed immeasurably in terms of friendship, fascinating conversation, cultural diversity and a link for me and the family (particularly the children) to the outside world. Never having excelled at anything very much (I was...

We made reservations for a four-night stay at Mountain Ridge. When we arrived (after our taxi driver had a difficult time locating this remote location), both my wife and I had strong feelings that we did not want to stay here. The house did not feel particularly clean, the atmosphere was rather dull, the pool did not have water, and... more

I would say that the swift departure of this angry couple was as much our good fortune as theirs. We don't pretend to be an hotel. We are a homestay and we are family. The family watching the television was ours and it was switched off immediately. The place was spotlessly clean but we're not an Intensive Care Unit. Although...

This is the perfect place to take time out of India's hectic cities. Piers' house is beautiful - the sort of place you would see featured on Grand Designs. Piers and the Nepali family who live there are most welcoming. We felt incredibly at home and could easily have stayed a lot longer if we were traveling with a bigger... more

We ended our short trip at Mountain Ridge. It was a lovely place to stay, perched on beautiful land with wonderful views. We took the suite but all the rooms seemed nice and all had stunning views. It is very relaxed at Mountain Ridge, Piers and his lovely family looked after us well. The food is amazing! more

Mountain Ridge is a wonderful place to stay for a couple of days, offering peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of Rajasthan. Piers is a wonderful host, and his style is so easy that very soon you think of him as a friend, and forget that you are actually paying for staying there! The communal dinners were great... more

We were very happy with many of the hotels/bed & breakfasts in India, but this was easily our favorite. Its charm and people make for an extremely comfortable stay. more
