The property is located on the outskirts of Jodhpur and has beautiful grounds and lush green lawns. The property itself is a little dated and decaying though some of the rooms and suites still give a flavor of what royal living would have been like. We stayed at the Bal Samand Lake Palace for 3 nights in December 2011. We had 5 rooms in the palace and it was exquisite. The grounds are beautiful and our children enjoyed exploring, watching peacocks, swinging from banyan trees and just being outdoors. In need of refurbishment albeit rooms were very comfortable. Whole place lacked people and ambience. Food mediocre but service good

We were lucky to be able to stay in one of the 7 suites near the lake. The room was the best of my life, huge, beautiful. Fantastic service, dinner served like a maharadja. Incredible view on the lake. in the morning, first encounter with monkeys. a must in india.

We stayed 2 nights in this wonderful enormous property where you have the choice of garden or palace rooms. The palace is wonderful, with enormous rooms. It is a beautiful property, and as you enter the driveway and drive down for almost 5 minutes to reach the palace, you can't help but feel jealous of the lives of the original Maharajas who stayed in the property. 2nd time staying here (last time 2009) both times on 1 night business trips. Huge pluses - lovely grounds for rambling in, plenty of wildlife around if you wander about, nice (though could be cleaner) outdoor pool, lovely garden setting for evening meals, charming converted rooms. Woke up to peacocks dancing in the lawns & it was a great experience, lovely swimming pool, great property & amazing hospitality, at our request of having authentic rajasthani food they prepared khattey murg & a veg dish (i dont remember the name) which was not the part of their menu... loved my stay there...
