Listening to crashing waves in bed, amazing breakfasts appearing just when you want them, beautiful feasts at dinner time (the prawn masala and fish a higlight), friendly and fun staff and an escape from the general hustle and bustle made our stay in Pink Aana one of the highlights of our trip!! When we arrived at pink Aana we were a... More

Ok, so the room tariffs are not the cheapest. And there aren't beachboys hassling single white women at every corner. There are no ayurvedic treatments within two minutes walk (ten mins, yes). And no handicraft shops within 500 metres. The beach has an inclusive policy with fishermen, unhassled bikini-clad tourists, and dogs sharing the sand; unlike Varkala's lifeguard-enforced Indian-Tourist segregation.... More

Let's begin by saying that the actual spot is beautiful and with a small effort Pink Aana could be wonderful. We stayed in the bungalow furthest from the beach since we are a family of four and it's the only one with room with two big beds. It was very basic and the bathroom was just cut into bare rock... The place is constantly overbooked. Even a confirmed reservation by the owner himself doesn't change that fact. The consequence is that you have to spend your holiday in a concrete prison cell-like building away from the beach. There are a few alternatives on the same beach that you could give a try.

My mother (50s) and I (20s) spent three nights here in October 2011. Pink Aana is a quiet group of beach bungalows a bit north of Varkala. It was great to be able to walk up to Varkala (10 minutes) along the cliffs, enjoy the hustle and bustle and the shops, and then retire to the peace of quiet of... More

Totally agree with previous reviews. This place has nice huts overlooking the beach, set in a nice flowery garden.  The 4 huts have verandas with a hammock, but that is the only shade around, the nice garden is in full sun all day, unfortunately. The staff are nice, however we had a bad experience with the whole booking process which... More

It's a really lovely place to stay, close to the quiet beach where the fishermen come in every morning. The huts are basic but very nice and clean with a bathroom, a little sitting out area and your own hammock. The breakfasts are good, and you can eat here in the evening (good home-cooked food). However, we booked here for... More

We read the review of this hotel in Lonely Planet so rang ahead from Kumarokom and asked about a cottage close to the beach for three nights. They confirmed that they had one available and quoted 3,500 rp per night. This was alot more than the 800rp quoted in Lonely Planet. Given this is peak season I accepted that and... More

In contrary to the area around the cliff, the little beach in front of Pink Aana is very-very quiet. Every morning the fisherman bring in their nets, a great ritual to watch - male tourists are even invited to help. The rest of the day it’s like a private beach for a handful of tourists. Pink Aana has 4 spacious,... More
