We wanted to spent a weekend in Thekkady, as usual most of the hotels are full or overcharging, then one of our friend working with ICICI referred Harithavanam, it just 13 to 14kms from Thekkady in Vandiperiyar. This is no frill place and looks like a typical farmers property in this part of the world. Located in the banks of Periyar river, it got almost all the seasonal spices, fruits and vegetables famous in the region are available on the property itself. Even the drive from Vandiperiyar to the resort through the tea garden itself is a nice experience.
Food was one of the best things in Harithavanam, prepared by ‘achayan’ and ‘ammichi’(our cooks), one of the best I had recently. Everything they prepared was so tastee. Beef stew was the best thing.
