Sara and Morten were excellent hosts and we had a very good time with them (great conversations, laughs). They were very helpful in planning the trip and outings once we were there but at the same time flexible to our needs. The cottage and main house are very tastefully designed and true to the concept...minimal impact on the environment. Bed... More

My husband and I stayed at Indhrivanam for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As soon as we pulled up to the gate on a quiet lane in the middle of a forested area I was thrilled. Morten, Sarah, Raju and Ashna the dog were there to greet us, it felt like coming home. The cottage is a cool... More

What a great place to stay. Spotlessly clean and supremely comfortable. Really really YUMMY food. Morton, Sarah and Raju are fantastically helpful - with hints and suggestions of things to do in the area. The place is in such a quiet and peaceful place, oh except for the fantastic birdsong and wonderful dawn chorus. It is about 10km (I think)... More

Only stayed 2 nights and wish I'd had longer as I hit monsoon-type weather and it was damp in the extreme. But the warmth of Sarah and Morten's welcome, and of their lovely dog Ashna, made up for it. Really special people in a really special place. I'm not a vegan but could be with this kind of food -... More

I can't say enough good things about our stay at Indhrivanam! From beginning to end we were in great hands. Morten was responsive on email as we planned our trip from the US, and when my husband and I arrived (I was 14 weeks pregnant) we were warmly greeted by Morten and Sarah who took our bags and showed us... I've had the pleasure of staying at some soulful places, based and build around a philosophy with wonderful hosts. Indhrivanam is certainly one of them. Morten and Sarah have created a beautiful house out of stone and sustainable material. Wow, I can picture myself in their living room having dinner, with the orange glow of the lights and wonderful conversations.... More

Indhrivanam was the most special place we stayed in India -- it was wonderful and unique. The stone cottage is the centerpiece of this experience. Morten and Sarah have put so much time and thought into this structure, and it shows. Even during the heat of the day, there is no need for air conditioning or a fan. It was... More

We were really looking forward to our stop with Morten and Sarah at their ecologically-sound cottage in the hills over kumily, and were not disappointed when we arrived. They made us feel welcome immediately, showing us around the cottage and the ins and outs of the dry toilet, electric shower with HOT water and free wi-fi, before walking up to... More

Indhrivanam is not your usual hotel. But I was well aware of that after reading the guesthouse website and exchanging mails with the owners. I was a little worried about that whole dry toilet thing and the fact that you had to eat dinner together all the time but it turned out that staying here was the best choice to... More

We stayed here for two nights during October 2011. This is a nice cottage about 10 K"M north of Kumly. The cottage is located next to the house of Morten and Sarah, a lovely couple who also serve meals. The cottage is basically located in a forest, and the environment is just like in the neighboring Periyar nature reserve minus... More
