Claus Garden is an oasis of western comfort. The buildings and its rooms are beautifully designed and the grounds are a delight. Spend the morning over a simple and wholesome breakfast on the terrace, swapping tales with guests from all over the world; spend the afternoon on the shady veranda outside your room; the late afternoon on the airy rooftop... Claus Garden is a really fantastic place to come and unwind, the rooms are huge, clean and tastefully decorated and the owners are incredibly friendly! The excellent breakfast and free wifi mean theres really no reason to leave the guesthouse and Claus is not only an incredibly friendly guy but also very knowledgable on the things to do around the... We really enjoyed our stay at Claus Garden. Our room was spacious and spotless. The bed was really confortable and with a mosquito net. We really appreciated the garden full of flowers and fruit trees. The rate was okay for the quality (800 rupees per night without breakfast and we shared our bathroom with another room).

We got a friendly and personal welcome, with complimentary tea/coffee and loads of tips about the nature reserve and the town, from Claus and his wife upon arrival. They even helped us check availability of treks/activities for the next day. We had requested a large room, but Claus gave us an ordinary double which was indeed large enough and very... More

The house and the garden are really unique, but we could not get hot water for shower, or even for doing your laundry. The owner is very strict, he gives nice welcome, but it seems that every thing is chargeable, and you must act according to his laws and rules. There are many other places, much more friendly, around this... More

came to Claus garden to stay for 3 days but wanted to stay for at least 3 weeks. Although we experienced the most quiet New Year EVER, Claus garden was the perfect match for the family of 5 stay in Kumily. Spacious rooms and ever so friendly atmosphere. Thanks to Claus and family for a great time. hopefully it wont... More

Claus, his Indian wife and family, could not have been more welcoming. A clean spacious room, fresh drinking water from the tap and a magic garden make this a haven of peace. Eat their home made bread, drink coffee from their own beans and just relax. I recommend Claus garden to travellers seeking peace.

We stayed at Claus Garden for 2 days in November 2011. We enjoyed the place! Claus is the German host living in the same house. The house is big, and well maintained. Same goes for the garden. They serve a good german breakfast and coffee from the garden. Its walking distance to the city center. I would recommend this place... More

We stayed at Claus Garden for only one night (unlike the two we planned) because we found the owners so un-welcoming. While it is a beautiful and well-maintained building with well-decorated and spacious rooms these are not so special in the area; nor are they value for money at the prices charged. The real problem with our stay was that... More

we are sorry for this guest, he was very demanding. Our breakfast can be served only after 8am because the eco eggs and eco milk etc comes at 8am earliest. We offered tea and coffee plus fruits at 7am, but this guest could not accept our possibilities and became unfriendly. We are very friendly with our guests, but sorry, we... More

Claus Garden was a very nice finding in our trip to Kerala. The rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. The mosquito nets provided had some small holes, though. It is in a quiet corner of Kumily in Periyar where you can stare at stars by night. Breakfast was very good (though not included in the price) and they don't... More
