At the heart of ancient Fort Cochin, Kerala, a place that exudes history and culture, is the 'Old Harbour Hotel.' A 300 year-old building that has for long been a heritage monument of this town, now reopened as a boutique hotel. Built in the Dutch style of architecture with hints of Portuguese influences, it was the first hotel of old Cochin. Later it remained a residential home to employees of English Tea broking firms until it was left unused for a period of time.

This place really was a surprise. We had two nights in Fort Kochi, and this was our home for the duration. We were in one of the suite rooms facing the main road, with a wonderful terrace to watch the hubble bubble below. The hotel is a light-touch renovation of a 300-year old building, with Dutch and Portuguese influences. It feels properly old school (don't expect a tv or in-room wi-fi), but benefits from two pet cats and two dogs, all showing belligerent disinterest to what was going on around them. The setting is tranquil (considering it's on a busy road), the restaurant/terrace wonderfully presented, and the food of great quality. It feels very much like a family-run venture, and the effort they go to in order to make you comfortable is commendable. We cannot recommend this place highly enough - book with confidence!

Super friendly staff, nice and calm breakfast, cute lazy dogs. The location is great, right by the beach. The room is huge and has good a/c, lots of space and comfortable bed. Walking distance to all Fort kochi sights anf shops and cafés. Thanks!

Friendly staff, but yes, very hot and sticky. I appreciate we stayed at the end of the season when the heat and humidity starts to ramp up but there is very little escape. Firstly the rooms, it was spacious, clean and quirky our problem was the air con. Our room had old integrated air con which was fairly inefficient, when turned down to the minimum 16 degrees it was still warm so we asked the front desk to sort it while we were out. It was cooler on our return but still not great, our travel companions had a room with a new stand alone air con unit which was fine. The heat problems don't stop there, the inside restaurant for breakfast is opened to the garden with only ceiling fans, no air con so breakfast was quite uncomfortable. We ate outside on our first night but the humidity and a few bugs made it unpleasant so we ate elsewhere on our second night. The breakfast was good, especially the granola and fruit but our evening meal was fairly bland, As others have said, wi fi is an issue and the hotel admit this, it doesn't work in your room so you have to endure the heat of the hotel landings to use it. There is a pool to cool off but as it was an strange opaque colour (chemicals?) I didn't bother. All in all, a good location and some amusing quirky art but that's about it.

We really love the Old Harbour : we must do, as this was our 7th stay - and it was better than ever! Comfortable stylish rooms Wonderful breakfast Atmospheric outdoor restaurant with fabulous music and food Excellent location right in the thick of things but still quiet enough to get a peaceful night’s sleep Laid back vibe but very efficiently run Those are the things we appreciate in a hotel but what makes this place so special is the people, who treat you like family, and look after you so well. Lovely welcome from Jude and Vineetha, and good to see Sukesh again, if only on our last day. Also love what this hotel does for the local animals, taking such care of Happy, Gavaskar, Lily and Valentine, and their friends….. Travelled again with family , and the 4 of us had the most wonderful time. Thank you Jude and Vineetha, you really spoiled us! We’ll undoubtedly return to Fort Kochi, and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else!!

We arrived late evening (approx 9.45pm) to a warm friendly welcome and was shown straight to our room and told we could do the check in procedures in the morning. This was most appreciated after a long day of travelling. The room had both air conditioning and a fan which were both needed although we did just have the fan on whilst we slept. (Aircon was a bit too noisy). The next morning we enjoyed our best breakfast in India. Delicious fruit platters, homemade granola and fluffy pineapple /banana pancakes. The evening meal was even more delicious with the best (and biggest) Kerelan king prawns with mango & coconut sauce and a spiced rice. All the staff were very helpful, friendly and spoke excellent English. Especially the 2 guys who seemed to be the owners/managers. The highlight of the hotel had to be the 2 friendly dogs Gavaskar and Happy who loved going out for a drive (instead of a walk) in the evening. This really gave the hotel a very homely feel, that made you feel like a welcome friend, not just a guest.

A Nice hotel well located in fort kochin. Many + and some - points : - a Nice colonial architerual hotel. - Nice rooms : we had 2 rooms and both were big, well decorated, nice beds, good A/C BUT not a lot of hot water and the bathroom flush didn't work well. - good food : breakfast and dinner with some indian wines. - good location : in the Center. - beautiful Garden and pool but Many birds and birds poop unfortunately. At the end, the place is Nice yet a little bit expensive considering the flush thing and lack ok hot water.

We were fortunate to get a room here, a bit noisy, but the staff and ambiance made up for that. Nothing was too much trouble. The room had everything, including a comfy bed.The food was excellent and the pool although shady was a joy. We would want to come again.

We were very much looking forward to our stay. A|C noise from outside, hotel dogs barking and moskitos in the room kept us awake all night. Wi-Fi was also extremely weak and could not be used. Breakfast was nice and so was the staff. We would not stay again.

Loved our 3 night stay here. The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are full of character. The restaurant food was excellent and some of the best we had in India. However best of all were the staff. Thankyou to the member of staff who got up at 5.00am so we could catch our early morning flight and provided us with coffee and food. Cheerfulness at this time in the morning has provided us with such a positive memory of our visit to India.

Loved this place. An old colonial building with tons of charm and truly “wow” rooms. Food was really good and as was the service. They have some dogs here so … don’t be surprised. They even have Indian wine, which is starting to be a thing. The garden dining is terrific and the pool is under these gymormous trees….just outside the front doors is the waterfront and the Chinese nets… very central. A few minutes from a nice yoga studio… Fort Kochi is worth a visit though it’s a ways from the airport. My only gripe was that the in room WiFi was almost non existent and we had to go elsewhere in the building to connect. I love not having a tv in my room or anybody else’s for that matter. It really would not be hard to set up a mesh network and provide WiFi to the rooms.
