I stayed at Casa de Ann in January 2013. I fully concur with the review of GoanBananas68/8th December 2012. This is a homestay with a warm and welcoming heart. It is clean and tidy and being on Vypeen Island is away from the typical tourist haunts. Yes the ferries don’t run late but nothing much is happening later at night... More

Located on Vypeen Island, Casa de Ann is run by Cookie and Debu and Cookie's amazing mum Loretta. From the beginning, nothing was too much trouble. Loretta happily shared her recipe for what is now officially known as Lollys Loaded Prawn Pickle -- an absolutely amazing concoction generously loaded with prawns. Soft, lacy appams for breakfast, incredible local Kerala preparations... More

I found Casa de Ann on airbnb.com. I contacted the hosts and received prompt, warm, helpful replies. We communicated back and forth several times with me asking all kinds of complicated and annoying questions and them responding quickly, clearly, and SO NICELY. In the end, we booked somewhere else because we were traveling with a large group staying in another... More

We visited Casa de Ann in July. This place is a charming and a cosy home stay. The interiors are beautifully done, very comfortable, quiet and very serene. The hosts are the highlights of this home stay, very accommodating and friendly. The food was very nice. You can take the local boat rides to the nearest places. Beautiful churches around... More

We enjoyed our stay at this place. Quaint and clean and really helped us get the real local flavor. The hosts were excellent and nothing was impossible or mired in tariff cards. Highly recommended. The church nearby, the boat rides to town and Fort Kochi were all easy and cheap and fun.

Relaxing environment, which is what I really needed on that holiday. It had a very home like feel to it, which made it even more comfortable. Everyone was very friendly, and the hospitality was excellent. The food was beautiful, and the rooms were comfortable, even in the sweltering heat due to the ACs. Transport is very convenient, as there is... More

Levi and I visiting Kerala late last year (my first trip back after leaving Vypeen in 1969!) and had the best time enjoying everything that Vypin, Kochi & Ernakulum has too offer. The visit was made particularly enjoyable due to staying at "Case de Ann" and the fantastic hospitality of "Cookie". The premises is a clean and beautifully kept grand... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Looking out to a 400-year old church, Casa de Ann is an ideal home to kick back, relax and take in the sights and sounds of the quaint little settlement of Vypeen. The majestic architecture and intricate details of the church will keep your attention for hours and before you realise it the sweet voices of the choir will have you swooning to their tunes. Head a bit further for a stroll down the sea wall and watch the traditional Chinese fishing nets in action as they drop and raise their appendage into sea to haul in a fresh catch. If you ever get tired of that you could just sit back and watch for the dolphins come up and create a splash or just wave out as the giant ships make their way back into the seas of the world. You could even take the ten minute local ferry to cross over the channel and explore the enchanting Fort Cochin and its many churches and dig for some history lessons in its dainty corners to learn of dynasties that once were. Or you could carry on to discover the mystic lanes of Jew Town and the vibrant paintings of Mattancherry Palace only to stumble across some of the most exquisite handicrafts and superbly detailed furniture by the roadside. The Spice Markets in the back roads aren't to be missed either.Cherai, Kerala's longest stretch of beach, isn't too far away either if a day of soaking up the sun and playing dodge with the waves is what your heart desires. You could always stop at the Lighthouse on your way as well. Busy, on the other hand, is what Ernakulum city is, with its hustle bustle and old market places standing alongside high-rise apartments and shopping malls. ... more   less
