Been there several times earlier, starting in my school days way back in the late 60's - then a very classy place, unique drive in resteraunt, a rarity those days. After several years visited the place this afternoon, only reason being to catch up on nostalgia and as a bonus get a parking slot to have a quick bite. Parking was a traumatic experience around noon time, cars and 2 Wheeler's parked haphazardly, finally the valet parking helped. Except for the big old banian tree and a few shrub's, there is hardly any greenery, all one sees are vehicle's (parking charges are Rs.30 per hour and in increments of Rs. 30/- thereafter), to avoid the dust and the rains , we decided to dine inside, average set up, old and dingy, filthy restrooms and washing area. Service was okay as the Manager personally attended to us (he knew we were from Mangalore'), The Dosa's, Onion Uthappam, and Bonda Soup were good, so too the coffee, but the bill was a shocker, given that you can get better stuff in any other Udupi joint in Bangalore for half the price, imagine a glass of coffee at Rs. 50/- or a Dosa at Rs. 120/- ??? Very expensive by any standard's, Wouldn't visit again.... Far better eateries around, at more affordable rates. …
