Staying at Highland park was a mixed bag for us. We travelled as a family with a 3 yr old, so that added to the equation.

First things first, Highland park is slightly outside Manali - which is what we were looking for. The approach road is bad , but the sight of your car on a small hanging bridge (wide enough only for one car to cross) could be a unique experience.

The first impression of the place was good. There is a small river running by, the rooms looked great from the outside.
However, we were disappointed as soon as we entered the room. The room were dirty and not well maintained. There were telltale signs of the previous guests and it was gross !! we had the bedsheets, quilts etc all changed and requested for an additional quilt - which smelled of mould.
on the brighter side, the support staff was good, and the service was prompt. We could get our food custmized - and that was a great help with the kid.

Well, first things first. Highland Park Manali is situated near Nehru Kund and slightly away from Main Manali. When we had seen the hotel's website, we were impressed with the location. And the location was what turned out to be the problem..
The way to the hotel is through a bridge and then a very bad and narrow road and it would be apt to say that since we were tired due to the long travel from Dharamsala to Manali, we were dismayed to see the location. Anyway, once we reached the hotel, the check in was smooth. However, when we saw our room, we were disappointed by the size of the room and I made my displeasure very clear to the Manager, because when you see those rooms on the website, they appear to be much bigger and better. The Manager, however, was very co-operative and shifted us to a luxury suite with a living room and a balcony at no extra cost.
