I was shocked to hear the news of Francis's death just before I left for a 2 week holiday at GTS Kololi. Francis was a special man and I'm sure he will be missed by all who knew him. Filly, Francis's widow is now running the guesthouse with the help of her cousin Saul. The crew of security & cleaners... More

Hi I have just returned from a holiday in Gambia and stayed at GTS Kololi. I can only say that I agree with all the other reviews a great place to stay. The joint owner Francis died in December and is now run by his wife Filly although the restaurant was closed there are other places to eat close by.... More

I visited GTS Kololi in August 2011 for a 2 week stay, and was overwhelmed by the high quality of the rooms and service. The compound is immaculately clean and very comfortable, with Filly and Fran welcoming you like part of the family. The rooms are furnished to a high standard, with a fridge, the option of air con and... More

We do have a generator, but the seamless backup mentioned is actually provided by 'invertors' that automatically provide power for light and fan in each room, so you are not plunged into darkness when the mains goes off - but this supply is silent - we avoid using the generator unless we have to charge batteries OR it is needed... Didn't stay this time as currently have house in the Gambia, BUT if I didn't and when I sell this is surely the place I will stay. Fran and Philly are hard to be beaten with their knowledge of the Gambia, their rooms are very clean, it is ideally located - 10 mins from Senegambia as an idea of where... More

This reviewer mentions that as well as accommodation we have a full bar and Restaurant in its own rights - this now also has a Trip Adviser listing under restaurants. Gambia is currently 'out of season' there are still flights May to October , all of our accommodation is around half price out od season so an excellent time for... More

This reviewer mentions that he came as a volunteer to help at the GTS lodge for nearly 5 weeks - generally, we take as volunteers, guests who have stayed with us before and we provide greatly discounted or free accommodation in return for 6 days work with us in each week. At present we are helping to develop an Eco... More

So kind of you to take the time to do a review. It was a pleasure having you here as guests and the help you gave as volunteers will be remembered and appreciated for a very very long time. Glad it made your stay so memorable. Gambia is really all about people and when guests spend time doing voluntary work... More

I stayed at the GTS Kololi from June 2010 until March 2011. I had intended to stay only one month but owing to the high standard of this accommodation, very reasonable rates and fantastic staff, I didn’t bother to look anywhere else and therefore stayed until my return to the UK. Francis and Filly run a top class establishment and... More

I stayed at GTS Kololi for 10 nights while on a part leisure/part charity working trip, sharing a two-bedroomed house with another charity volunteer. The house was comfortable and kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay with regular changes of bedding etc. For someone looking for inexpensive - but still good standard - accommodation for a trip to The Gambia you...
