Suites are the most reasonable - but some of standard rooms are in a very, very poor conditions. At this very moment, at least some of the rooms are being renovated...hopefully this will set some kind of decent standard which at this moment can not be found in Port Said. Still, most decent of all hotels in Port Said, located... More

Hi I stayed here in October 2011 and really enjoyed myself, the view of the port and canal is amazing. Seeing all the ships linign up to come in, and waking up in the morning to see a huge passanger cruise ship mored outside my window was facinating. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food in the hotel... More

Staff were either disinterested or 'old hands' soley intent on gaining a tip through everything but customer service. That said, the place was clean and reasonably well equipped - the TV remote may have lacked a case for the batteries but it did function. The two real concerns were: 1. Very dodgy wiring. Several appliances in my room were unplugged... More

The Sonesta has now become the Resta Hotel and I must say I was expecting something special for the price - however as explained to me by one of the reception staff - the lack of competition in Port Said lets the management charge what they like! The same principle must also apply to the use of the internet at... More

The Sonesta is in a very good location. On the Canal, from your window you can look at the tankers go past, and you can just walk out and walk along the canal on the walkway that gets quite busy (in a good way) at night. For me that goes a long way to be a reasonable place to stay... More

I've stayed at the Sonesta Port Said a number of times over the last year or so, and I now dread the thought of having to return. The hotel really sums up Port Said - tired, dusty, drab and dated, on the way downhill. The staff are frequently dis-interested, for example refusing to help when the wireless internet they claim... Date: Mid April 2007 Author: tcliapis , Stationed in Helioupolis Cairo - Egypt Well Port said is a nice looking and Interesting Cosmopolitan harbor with a great market and bazaar area BUT unfortunately also a TOTALY Dirty (as city) place!!! This luck of “tidiness” limited my overall impression from there. Spend my time there in Port Said Sonesta Hotel a... More

One of the few acceptable hotel options one has in Port Said, Sonesta is located right at the Mediterranean-side entrance to the Suez Canal. Canal view rooms offer truly excellent views of ships entering the waterway, but they are rather poorly kept. Carpets have really outlived their usage, blankets are old, bathrooms need to be refurbished and shower drains were... More
