We stayed here with my mother-in-law and our 3 kids (ages 8, 4 and 4). We normally stay in backpacker type hostels so this was a definite splurge for us. We paid 60 Euros for two very large and very clean rooms, including breakfast. The service is excellent, the location is beautiful and peaceful and the food was very good.... More

This was a charming place to stay with traditional nubian architecture. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was great and the rooms were clean and well kept. There were little decorated nooks and crannies to explore with a quiet sunny courtyard with shade at different times of the day and a fabulous library with a wall full of... More

Admittedly we were one of only two couples staying there, but I don't think this beautiful place would ever feel overcrowded. Obviously this is not a 5 star establishment but for what it purports to be, it is great. Not as luxurious as the El Moudira in Luxor, but then nowhere near the price! Extremely comfortable room, with real Nubian... More

This hotel was our #1 favorite hotel in all of Egypt. We loved it! We only stayed one night, but wish we had stayed three. The first night and day, you can stay at the Temple as long as you like. The other two nights, you can just relax at the hotel. There are so many nooks and crannies in... More

Most tourists visit Abu Simbel by the 4:00 am caravan from Aswan. They drive three and a half hours through the dark, spend an hour or so being herded around the Ramses temple and then back on the bus to Aswan. We stayed at Eskaleh for two nights and loved the experience. This is truly a beautiful place, built in... More

So many Egyptian hotels are so boring. The Eskaleh is trying to do something different. Yes, it may not quite be perfect and it is certainly more costly than other hotels (partly due to the lack of competition in Abu Simbel), but to eat outside in the dark with the stars above and the owner's musical talents drifting over Lake... Ideally located for visiting temples at Abu Simbel, a 25 minute walk or short cab trip, and only a couple of kilometres from airport. Nicely situated in a quiet location close to shore of Lake Nasser on the edge of Abu Simbel village. Nubian owner and his assistants speak perfect English, they are very friendly & interesting to spend time speaking... More

A very pleasant lodge built in Nubian style, currently has just a few rooms but looks like it is busy expanding. Staff were friendly and welcoming as is the whole place, it's like staying in a family compound. It has a good restaurant attached for which you need to book in advance if you want to eat in the evening.... More

This will be short as there have been so many other reviews that express our feelings; however, after reading the latest quite detailed negative review, I want to add our experience. We are very well traveled and stay from the highest of luxury hotels to small, local places. We thoroughly enjoyed Eskaleh when we were there in December. It is... More

We chose the hotels we would use for our trip from Luxor down to Aswan and Abu Simbel purely on the Trip Advisor reviews which we have come to trust. The hotel in Aswan was excellent but choosing the Eskaleh in Abu Simbel was a bad decision! We were misled by the most recent glowing reviews and the #1 rating.... More
