I stayed in Palm Tree in 2007 and 2013 and quality of the service is nothing but superb. Location of the hostel is the main reason why I stayed in this hostel. Being 5 minutes walking distance to metro station made easier to access to whole city. During the day I could venture in to city by walking ( 20... More

Very well run hostel, great friendly staff, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, close to supermarket, bars, and the Suramericana metro station. Fun, sociable atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this place over any other in Medellin. The owner and staff often hang out and invite guests to drink with them, which was a great experience as well.

Stayed here for only one night after staying in the bourgeois "el Poblado" district in a dirty hostal. This is a great colombian owned hostal where the staff is super friendly. The place is super clean and has all you need to make your stay enjoyable. Great location to visit the city and close to the metro. Great terrasse and... More

This place just makes you feel like you´re at home. The staff is the most friendly in Colombia and the place is spotless, has a great kitchen, amazing hot showers and free breakfast. It is a sociable place where you can enjoy barbeques, beer and rum, but the party continues elsewhere after 11.30 PM, so it´s a perfect for people... More

We stayed here for 6 nights. Medellin is an expensive town for hostels (we found Bogota cheaper). Palm Tree advertises itself as the original hostel and it shows in its organisation as its very well run. The lovely Luz who works here and makes sure everything is tidy and in working order is probably the nicest person we have come... More

Even though the hostel is clearly a bit worn (the kitchen needs new pans and dishes) it is a great option for those who do not want to stay near the nightlife district (Poblado). The hostel is only a few minutes from the metro station in a lively and safe neighborhood with lots of panaderias, cheap eateries, banks, and a... More

..after having issues with our booking - this was at the fault of hostelworld - we managed to secure a small temporary room for 1 night before moving to our private double room for the remaining 6 nights. The temp room was actually a staff members room, which she gave up for us for one night, which was very lovely... More

Despite not being right in the middle of the party district of El Poblado with the other hostels, the Palm Tree hostel is still well-located within walking distance of the centre of the city. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and made us feel right at home from the start. Clean comfortable dorms, a well-equipped kitchen (breakfast included), and... More

This hostel kept us in Medellin for a long time. We stayed here three times: once in the room with one bunk bed, once in a dorm and the last time in the private double next to the kitchen.
