This hotel has a new manager/owner. It's now called Baiyi. That doesn't seem to make a difference so far. I've stayed here several times over the last few years, and the rooms are tired. They need a makeover top to bottom. (Do carpets ever get cleaned in China?) The low price is a plus compared to the few decent lodgings nearby. I just grit my teeth and count my blessings I spend very little time inside the rooms.
What this hotel has going for itself is that it's on right on Shiquan Jie, in the middle of the old town, with lots of shops, eateries, massage parlors, and bars along the street. The environment is relaxed, so it is a good place to wind down and take it easy for a few days. Centrally located in Suzhou in a moderately charming neighborhood. There are a couple of cozy coffee shops right across the street, and the post office, laundry, restaurants, banks, etc., are all within a few minutes walk.
