“OK place to stay. Good location”

Rooms are big and clean. The staff were friendly and fairly helpful and the location is central. There is no lounge/bar area for backpackers to hang out or kitchen facillities...this is a hotel. The guide books boasted of a great internet cafe on site which was no where to be found. We asked about it and were told, rather rudely... More

We stayed here for several nights while waiting to fly to Antarctica with Dap. The hostal was like a house that had been remodeled into a hotel. “Well located and efficient budget hotel in Punta Arenas”

Hostal Calafate is just half a block from the Plaza de Armas and is right across from the regional museum. It is a modest place but efficient and offers ameneties such as laundry, Internet Cafe open from 8 am through midnight, fax services, tour reservations for Torres del Paine, Perito Moreno, etc. My room was small but clean with cable... We booked this in advance as it was "high season." Looking at how fully booked they were- we were not the only people. The staff were helpful and polite and the rooms are relatively clean.
