I stayed for 6 nights during my PhD field work in Arica. I chose this place because it was the first telephone number that worked after trying to call several hotels closer to the city centre/beach.
The price (CHP10,000 for a single room ) and the free Wifi connection in the room were the decisive points.

Positive side: cheap; located on a quiet residential street (though birds and dogs can be loud and rooms have very thin walls); free Wifi connection and cable TV with lots of channels; basic but good hot shower. Fairly clean.

Negative side: very basic and rather shubby (fine for budget travelers but not recommended for couples or famlies); breakfast is miserable, consisting of powder coffee, sugar-added fruit juice, stale bread, butter and 4 thin strips of cheese (I didn't bother having it after the first day); a bit far from the city centre/beach/port, though everything in the city of Arica is walking distance. more
