Appearances in SE Asia, after eight months of travel, are what I've found can be most deceiving. What started out as a good stay became one of worry and annoyance. I came to Siem Reap to volunteer for 2 weeks with a local organization. Earthwalkers was recommended by them, and the hotel gave me a discount for staying so long....

not the most luxurious place, but the nice staff and pool made up for the rooms that are a bit basic. didnt see cockroaches, although garden has frogs.
the pool is brilliant after a day doing temples. The (inclusive) breakfast but dull, but other food very good.

Stayed here for 3 nights on the recommendation of the lonely planet...BIG MISTAKE. The rooms were beyond basic, the rooms were filthy the bed sheets and towels were stained. The complex including the bedrooms were infested with flies and frogs...We used their laundry service and our clothes were given back to us wet.Contrary to the guide book the place is not ran...

We had read that this was a very nice place a bit away from the center with a nice pool to refresh from a long day in the Angkor temples.
The place was nice, but the prices were a bit higher that we expected (their prices don't include VAT!!). Also the room was very nice, but at very early in...

This is one of the best valued back-packer hotel. The location is not far away from the city, and you can go around by the rented bike with cheap price.
The hotel has a unique foot-shaped swimming pool. A veranda nearby to relax and chat and read books and have a drink.. The bar serves nice juice.
The room itself...

Earthwalkers is not run by norwegians with focus on the local society. The review in Lonely Planet as ”our pick” is written when this place was run by norwegians. It is not anymore.
When I booked my trip to Cambodia, I planned to stay in Earthwalkers because of good reviews in papers and in Lonely Planet. . I e-mailed with...

We don`t know why this hostel is recommended by the Lonely Planet, even as a "pick". Indeed the pool is nice and relaxing after a day in Angkor, the staff which is not at all Norwegian is friendly (but slow) but it is not very clean and outside the city. We saw a lot of cockroaches there, even in our...

I only stayed one night out of 3 at the sub-standard establishment and booked another hotel nearby to avoid staying here.
The shower did not drain which is terrible after a long day's travel! The room was (to be kind) nothing special and the sheets were stained. I am thankful for bringing my own mosquito coils too! The rooms were...

We came here during our 1-year world trip by car and where happy to be able to park the car safely. The rooms look beautiful and there's lots of space outside to hang around (the pool, the bar, the lounge chairs). You can use the free wifi almost everywhere (we had a good signal in our room as well as...
