If you think the rooms are bad then don't camp there!! This is definitely a campsite for overlanders. They pack the place to the rafters. We were there in winter. After 8 days on the road, we arrived in Kasane expecting a River Lodge. We were camping in the dirt, the ablutions rarely had water (never mind hot), they were very dirty, ran out of toilet paper. Camped here for just 1 night. The grounds have so much possibility, but are very run down. Ablution facilities are ok - a little dirty compared to other grounds in Botswana. This family run lodge has a great vibe and although the river is at the highest level since 1958 a plan has been made for campers. more

This could be a real 'gem' for people looking for decent budget accommodation in expensive Kasane. The food is great (but slow, slow, slow) and the ablutions are fine. Sadly, no effort is made to 'landscape' and so we slept in a disgusting sea of mud which could so easily have been avoided with grass or sand! It was horrible.... more
