I reserved a room in this hotel following a recommendation from a leading travel guide. The Copacabana Hotel is on a busy, dirty, noisy street, two block from the Plaza. When I arrived the small reception area was filled with cigarette smokers who were sitting and talking in the worn couches. The first room I was put in was no larger than 10'x10'. I complained (this is not what I reserved) I was put in a slightly larger room with an A/C that worked intermittently through the night. The blankets on the beds were dirty and smelled. There was a smell of sewage coming up from the floor drains in the tiny bathroom, and, when I awoke during the night and turned on the light, I found cockroaches scurrying on the floor. Needless to say this place is a dive. Not recommended.
