Over the years we have stayed at several different Bed and Breakfasts hoping that one of them would meet our desire to feel welcome and not an intrusion into THIER home. At LAST we have found such a place! H.S. Clay House far exceeded our expectations. Leigh and Alan made us feel more than welcome and provided us with the... More

My husband and I have been to many B&B's over the past 19 years. This is our favorite! The H.S. Clay House is beautiful and whimsical. Each room is amazing and the attention to detail is fabulous. Alan's breakfast was by far- THE best breakfast we have ever had at a B&B. Phenomenal. Most people looking at ratings are looking... More

This was my first time staying here, and the experience was absolutely amazing! It's in a great location, within walking distance of several wineries, local eateries, and shops. The main house and the guest cottage are gorgeous. The pictures don't do it justice! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, Alan and Leigh showed such kindness and generosity, and the food... More

My boyfriend and I absolutely enjoyed our trip to this B&B. He took me here for an early birthday gift. How romantic! Fabulous food and friendly company. This was my first B&B experience and it will be very hard to top! More

For our 39th wedding anniversary, we wanted to stay at a GREAT B&B near St Louis. We selected H.S. Clay because they had such an inviting website. When we arrived, we started the "taste" of something wonderful! Leigh gave us a complete tour before settling into our lavish Turret suite. Later in the week, we also stayed in the Cottage... More

Not the serendipitous type? Can't picture yourself in 'Night at the Museum"? Don't much enjoy engaging with your hosts and their interesting guests? Gourmet breakfasts, ambience for reading and relaxing, high count linens, the chime of an antique clock, quirky unexpected pleasures and old fashioned hospitality not your cup of tea? You may prefer motels and food chains and theme... More

Alan and Leigh are hands-down the best and most accommodating B&B host/hostess in the State! From their welcome tour of the beautiful and historical Clay House and grounds, to the most delicious welcome "punch" concoction - to our cozy and romantic suite in the "Tree Top" - every detail was well thought out and fully appreciated! We will definitely be... More

My wife and I spent our honeymoon night at the H.S. Clay House in Augusta, MO 14 years ago and loved it. We have been going back almost every year since. We have stayed in almost all of the uniquely decorated rooms, but our favorite is the Turret Suite. Leigh and Alan are incredibly welcoming hosts. Alan's breakfast creations are... More

The H.S. Clay house is a wonderful and charming place to stay. We are repeat visitors to the Cottage(private house), which has everything you need to make your stay comfortable, fun, relaxing and memorable. It's been a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary each year. Also worth mentioning, the breakfast each morning is "out of this world" delicious! On this... More
